    Trappist tripel ale

    Achel, Belgium
BEER NOTES: Launched in 2001, Achel Blond has rekindled this Trappist monastry’s proud brewing heritage, which had been dormant for some 75 years. The beer pours golden orange with a slight yeast haze. Pleasant citrus and pear come through on the aroma, while the honey and bready malt flavours are balanced by a spicy, dry finish. Perhaps more akin to a saison than a traditional Trappist tripel.
FOOD & BEER: Matches particularly well with grilled mackerel and sardines. Try also with firm white fish such as monkfish.
    BEER INFORMATION: 24 x 330ml bottle (8% abv)

FOOD & BEER: This big beer has the depth of complexity to take on richly roasted dark meats and bold cheeses such as blue stilton.

    Belgian Strong Ale

    Dubbel

    Kortrijk
BEER NOTES: Just the second beer from one of our favourite discoveries in the world of beer. This donker is a rich, dark ale with lots of banana, raisin, port and caramel notes that competes with the traditional dubbels of the Trappist abbeys. It's made at a brewery we stumbled across while doing a road trip in Belgium, where founder Geert Toye built the brewery himself, from scratch and continues to brew all the beer himself too. He is a legend, and his beers deserve to be too.
FOOD & BEER: Delicious with steak, rich Flemish stews and hard cheeses.
    BEER INFORMATION: 24 x 330ml bottles (8% abv)

    STRONG BELGIAN AMBER ALE

    Ursel, Belgium
BEER NOTES: In creating Magma, forward-thinking craft brewers Troubadour have looked to combine the assertive hop profile of an American IPA with the rounded malt and fruity sweetness of a Belgian triple. Dry hopping gives this powerful beer a marked dry, bitter finish. It's an inspired integration of New and Old World brewing techniques.

    Abbey Beer

    Ninove, Belgium
